CHE Vision seminar with Dave Crist

There is a Community Health Evangelism (CHE) Vision seminar being planned for June this year, after the Crists arrive. Please read the retreat invitation and respond to Mr. Crist if you intend to come.

When you comment, let us know if you are only interested in the short 2 day seminar, or if you want to go to the Trainers Of Trainers I (TOT I) seminar which would run Friday through Thursday the following week.

Dear Ciska,

 I have talked with the manager of a Christian resort about 3.5 hours north of Red Hook called 'High Braes'. [ http://www.highbraes.org/ ] We've visited them when we were on furlough the last time. It's a nice place and enough room for the 25 or so people who might be coming to our CHE Weekend Workshop. The cost is around $70 per person for Friday night to Sunday early afternoon. I'll be sending a special email out about this in the next day or so. I'll also notify MAI so they can place it on their website. The workshop will probably be held during the weekend of June 23rd, 24th, and 25th.

There is also the possibility to have a full CHE TOT1 training (that you are thinking of taking). We could easily extend the weekend workshop thru Thursday for those who wanted to stay for this training. The beginning lessons for the vision seminar are almost the same as the TOT1 training. I would have to have at least 15 commitments before I would schedule this but I would be willing to make an effort to bring this about if I knew that you and / or Linc and maybe Bethany wanted to attend.

Well, this is the latest. Maybe you can see what folks at Canaan Fellowship think about this weekend resort idea. If it doesn't seem like it's going to fly, I can cancel. In any case, I'll still put out an email to see if others are interested.

Who is it most appropriate for? Adults, teenagers, only folks considering missions whether short term or long term or anyone with a heart to reach out?

This seminar is for:

  • those who have a heart to reach out
  • those who want to know how their mission giving can be most productive
  • those who want to go into missions
  • those who have a heart to minister to people's physical, spiritual, economic, and social needs
  • those who love to gain knowledge and wisdom for the glory of God
Can you give a brief discription of what it would be like and its goals for those who would be interested?

This vision seminar will give raise awareness in the following areas:

  • Importance of integrating the physical & spiritual in outreach
  • Knowing what it means to be a healthy person
  • Empowering versus Dependency
  • Knowing & mobilizing your community
  • Witnessing, follow up, and discipleship
  • How to facilitate participatory learning

These are just a few topics. Depending on the time they is alloted, more or less can be given. The hope is to motivate participants to make a plan to outreach their community or one that they want to target.

Medical clinic
Start: 8:00 am
End: 5:00 pm

Dear friends,

Enclosed is the brochure describing the details of the medical clinic on 9/23 (Saturday). Please consider if you know anyone who could be helped either seeing me, being screened for diabetes or high blood pressure or having prayer. Prayer will be offered during the day individually and also at night in the meeting. I am looking for people to help during the day to greet people, talk with them and/or prayer with them. If you can dedicate some time, let me or Trina Strickland know - we are keeping a list. Please pray that the Lord will use this opportunity to open the community to the gospel. Let us also ask that the Lord will strengthen the church for this work, especially our congregation and Northern Dutchess Bible Church.
