Canaan ChoraleWelcome to the Canaan Chorale page! Canaan Chorale gives people opportunities for developing musicianship and vocal skills in the context of a low-pressure, family-oriented performing choir. CC rehearses for 5-7 Sunday afternoons for each semester (fall and spring), with a culminating performance or two. CC gives everyone in the family the opportunity to experience the joy of singing skillfully in an ensemble. Chorale vocalists focus on glorifying God and expressing an inspirational message in a variety of chorale styles. All are welcome to be a part of CC and need no religious affiliation. It has been a great blessing to have families singing together. Our goal is not perfection, but to sing well with all our hearts unto the Lord, turn the attention of the audience to the Lord and make harmony as families. Last year's Winter Walk and spring performance were blessings to all involved. Rehearsals are on Sunday afternoons approximately 1:15 following church service and a short bring your own or share lunch. ContentVocal Training The techniques that members learn in Canaan Chorale will build members' voices and teach how to perform with an ensemble. Group vocal technique is not a substitue for private vocal instruction but is supplemental. Music Reading Vocalists will receive instruction in 1) reading one of three or four choral parts from a written score, 2) identifying and interpreting expression marks and indications. Stylistic Interpretation Vocalists will receive instruction in enunciation and appropriate vowel production for appropriate stylistic interpretation. |
