April 2006
Dear Brothers,
The annual brother’s retreat at Laurel Lake Camp in PA is planned for April 28-30. This is a Christian retreat that is open to men and older boys (11+) who wish to “fight the good fight of faith”. Laurel Lake Camp is in a rural setting near Rossiter PA (east of Pittsburg – maps are available) and provides a wonderful opportunity to gather with other men from various locations for prayer, singing, and ministry in the various gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Everyone is requested to bring a snack to share in the evening (cookies, chips, or any other snack food). Those from PA and Ohio will share on Friday night and anyone else can share theirs on Sat night.
Sleeping accommodations is dormitory style (8-12 per room) with single beds (bring your own sleeping bags or linens and pillows). There are a limited number of smaller rooms that sleep 1-4 (usually with a double bed and 2 bunks). Please let me know ahead of time if you would like one of these rooms and I will assign them as long as they are available. This year, the cost will be $45 per person for those staying in dorms and $55 for those staying in the smaller rooms. Those buying food will be reimbursed. I would like to know by April 15th who is planning to come. Please call me <contact info removed from to avoid spam - but is the word document - or you can let your local fellowship know>.
Please pass this to those you think would be interested and benefit from these meetings.
One additional word of encouragement. When we meet in a large group such as this from various places and backgrounds, in order to “keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Eph 4:3) we must exercise extra care. We must work harder to avoid needless offence, especially in the areas of dress, music, and personal comfort (including sleep). “We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.” (Rom 15:1) We need to be sensitive to the areas of ‘weakness’ in one another and seek to edify and not tear down or irritate, especially in the meetings and dorm rooms. If in doubt, ask the Lord (and one another) for wisdom!
Your brother in Christ,
Jeff Burks
